Most people don’t change until they get to the point of being sick & tired of their present situation or they’ve reached their “dark night of the soul” moment. I get it. Change is difficult and it seems impossible to manifest your desires when you don’t know where to start.
If you’re struggling with your relationship, career, family, or anything else, you’ll be happy to know that the first step to improving your life will always be the same thing. Once you connect with that first step, it will literally guide you down the path to living a purposeful life that aligns with your spirit.
The first step to redesigning your life starts with listening to your intuition. Your intuition is your superpower. It it your inner compass. It’s a gift from the universe given to you to help guide you through the maze of life.
When you don’t listen to your inner voice, you end up making decisions that don’t align with your soul’s true purpose. That’s how a lot of people find themselves living lives that they hate living. They made a bunch of decisions based off of societal standards, pleasing their family, self limitation, blocks, or fears. Those are not the building blocks from which you should want to build your life.
When you listen to your intuition, the decisions that you make feed your soul. It allows you to receive guidance from whatever higher power you believe in and it connects you to the voice of your higher self. You start to notice synchronicities in your life and you begin to manifest your dreams in an effortless way.
Your probably thinking, “that sounds nice, but how do I do that?” It’s different for everyone, but the key is finding the activities that help to quiet your egoic conscious mind. That is your louder inner voice that never shuts up and caters to your ego (no matter how flawed the message is).
It is in those moments when your ego voice is silent that you start to hear your intuitive voice. It is those moments that allow you to develop a relationship with your intuition.
Here are 3 things you can do to silence your ego voice so that you can hear your intuition:
-
- Meditate: Meditation is all about quieting your mind. When you mind is quiet, you’ll start to hear when your intuition speaks to you. Those messages can come to you as direct guidance, as an inspiring idea, or as warning signals.
-
- Guided Visualization: These are good for beginner meditators. You can find youtube videos of guided visualizations and try different ones until you find one that resonates with you. They are calming and they help to lower your stress levels. Because you’re being guided through an experience, it takes the pressure off (that some people feel) of having to have a completely empty mind for whatever length of time you’re meditating.
- Your Hobbies: You probably didn’t expect this one to make the list, but whatever activity puts you in the zone, is the perfect activity to help you hear your inner voice. When you’re in that zone, you’re focused and your egoic mind is silenced. It is in those moments of silence that you can hear the messages that are sent your way. Athletes are a good example of people who use the zone to help them manifest their dreams. The key is to create time to just focus on your art (whether it’s running, painting, dancing or anything else) and to treat that time as sacred time. Don’t rush yourself. Make that your alone time and block out all of your stresses while you create whatever your heart desires.
If you’re trying to build the practice of intuitive living, you can start with just 10 minutes a day of any of the above activities. Try them and see which ones work best for you. The more familiar you become with hearing your intuition, the easier it will be to start trusting that voice.
